Chris Smith Kids Physio Works

Chris Smith

Physiotherapist

Chris trained at Keele University and moved straight to London. Working in 4 NHS London Teaching Hospitals, gaining experience in several areas of Paediatric Physiotherapy. Chris also went on to work at NHS North East Essex PCT, Mid Essex PCT and South West Essex PCT giving him a wealth of information on local children’s services within Essex.

Chris provides lectures to Health professional groups including Physiotherapy students at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level at the University of Essex. In 2010 Chris completed his training in Therasuit and Spider Cage Therapy using the Universal Exercise Unit and brought intensive task training to Essex.

Further to his clinic responsibilities at KPW, Chris is the Chair of the APCP (Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists) Private Practice Committee. Chris was also elected onto the APCP National Committee as the Public Relations Officer. This has involved speaking nationally to Physiotherapists at the annual conference and specific presentations on rehabilitation of children post Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy.

Kathryn Smith

BSc PHYT
Physiotherapist

Kathryn trained in Physiotherapy at Manchester University and worked for a year at Ipswich Hospital before taking a year career break to support the Tsunami clear up in Thailand. Kathryn worked at 2 London Teaching Hospitals during which time she worked in Paediatrics & Neurology at the Evelina Childrens Hospital, Guys and St Thomas Hospital. Kathryn’s experience in brain injury is used with great effect at Kids Physio Works.
Lucy Bolton - Kids Physio Works

Lucy Bolton

Assistant

Lucy works as a physiotherapy assistant at Kids Physio Works. She has experience with working with children after spending four years in various early years settings after gaining her Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma. Lucy enjoyed working with all ages of children and watching the children learn and develop through play.
Lauren Hannah Kids Physio Works

Assistant

Lauren works as a physiotherapy assistant at Kids Physio Works. She is currently doing an Allied Health Profession apprenticeship with us. She became interested in physiotherapy while working at PARC (a play and resource centre for children with additional needs) and seeing first hand the progress children can make with physiotherapy intervention.

She is keen to progress her confidence and handling in the area and learn from the senior members of the team. Lauren would like to one day become a qualified physiotherapist herself. 

Kat Mead

Kat Mead

Physiotherapist

Kat trained in Physiotherapy at the University of Nottingham. Since qualifying she has worked at a Suffolk based Hospital, gaining a wide range of experience in Neurology, Respiratory, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Orthopaedics and Paediatrics. Kat went on to specialise in Paediatrics, with a focus on Musculoskeletal Outpatients, before moving to Kids Physio Works.

At Kids Physio Works Kat has continued to progress her knowledge and skills in Paediatrics, using new and innovative physiotherapy approaches to fulfil each child’s potential. She has started a Masters in Paediatric Physiotherapy, which she hopes complete over the next 3 years. Kat has particular interests in Early Intervention for children with neurological conditions and facilitating sport participation.

Andy Ringer

Andy Ringer

Physiotherapist

Andy completed his first degree in Sports Rehabilitation at the University of Hull in 2008. He then worked in the sports and fitness industry, coaching children in a variety of sports in the UK and also in the USA. Having realised he has a passion for physiotherapy he completed his physiotherapy masters degree at the University of Essex, which included a student placement with the Kids Physio Works team. Since graduating Andy has worked at Guys & St Thomas’ NHS trust, gaining experience in intensive care, amputee rehabilitation and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Andy is very excited to continue developing his paediatric physiotherapy knowledge, working alongside Kids Physio Works senior therapists and completing training in the latest treatment techniques.

Kirsty Shepherd

Kirsty Shepherd

Physiotherapist

Kirsty trained in Physiotherapy at Brunel University. Since qualifying she has worked as a Senior Physiotherapist at an Essex based Hospital where she completed many rotations and gained much knowledge and experience within different specialties. Kirsty went on to specialise in Paediatrics with a focus on Neurodisability at the Brainwave Centre where she further progressed her skills by assessing and treating children of all ages with many different diagnoses.

Kirsty is very keen to attend courses and lectures to keep up to date with new treatment techniques and learn new skills that she can put into practice at Kids Physio Works. Most recently Kirsty completed training in Constraint Induced Movement Therapy.

Oli Tatton

Oli Tatton-Bennett

Oli’s first university degree was Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth but he always had a desire to study Physiotherapy. After successfully completing his first degree he studied for a Physiotherapy Masters Degree at the University of Essex. After completing a work experience period at a child development centre he quickly developed a passion for helping children fulfill their physical potential.

Since working at Kids Physio Works, Oli has progressed his skills and knowledge in the paediatric area and is very interested in the constant development of new physiotherapy approaches and techniques which can help children progress. Oli has recently undertaken training in the Mollii suit and is taking a proactive role in developing this for service users at Kids Physio Works.

Neil Webster - Kids Physio Works

Neil Webster

Physiotherapist

Neil’s first university degree was Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Essex. Since the early stages of his degree Neil realised his passion for Physiotherapy and consequently studied for his Physiotherapy Masters Degree. Neil has a wealth of experiencing in treating children within clinical and community based environments across the Essex/London and Norfolk areas. This has helped develop his treatment and management whilst working with a variety of children who all presented with different neurological and musculoskeletal problems.

As a Physiotherapist at Kids Physio Works, Neil is passionate to continue progressing his knowledge in all areas of current and future evidence based Physiotherapy.
