As some of you may know the Kids Physio Works team has a monthly in service training day which involves a morning yoga session followed by a clinical meeting discussing new pieces of research evidence to advance our therapy approach, rehab knowledge and skills. I really look forward to this date every month, and once again this months yoga session, with the brilliant Heidi Pascual, did not fail to impress- it was absolutely brilliant and I would highly recommend anyone to give it a go!
At first I was rather naive to how widely beneficial yoga is, and I certainly underestimated the physical demands and difficulties involved! Heidi may look like an angel sent down from heaven glowing with tranquility, but each session she manages to challenge and push us all to our physical limits- leaving my whole body certainly reaping the effects the next morning! Along with the therapeutic benefits of yoga that I have personally gained from Heidi’s sessions, testing and challenging my own physical strength and stamina has improved my anatomy and physiological understanding, reinforcing my appreciation of core strength and the intricate interaction required between specific muscle groups for physical stability. This has since helped me think of new treatment ideas and exercises to incorporate within different children’s treatment sessions to challenge and advance their muscular strength and balance abilities even further.
Working at Kids Physio Works is a dream come true for me! So I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone for giving me such a warm welcome! I truly feel like I am part of an extended family rather than just a member of an ordinary team working with children and their families. I feel truly privileged to work with such inspiring children, with such a talented team of professionals who are all so passionate and dedicated to provide the best therapy and support possible for the children and families achieve their goals! So from the yoga mentality… Exhale those cant’s and inhale those CANS and open your hearts and minds to embrace positivity to help us prove that kids physiotherapy DOES work!
