Chris Smith Kids Physio Works

Chris Smith

Physiotherapist

Chris trained at Keele University and moved straight to London. Working in 4 NHS London Teaching Hospitals, gaining experience in several areas of Paediatric Physiotherapy. Chris also went on to work at NHS North East Essex PCT, Mid Essex PCT and South West Essex PCT giving him a wealth of information on local children’s services within Essex.

Chris provides lectures to Health professional groups including Physiotherapy students at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level at the University of Essex. In 2010 Chris completed his training in Therasuit and Spider Cage Therapy using the Universal Exercise Unit and brought intensive task training to Essex.

Chris is former Chair of the APCP (Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists) Private Practice Committee and has also served on the APCP National Committee as Public Relations Officer. This involved speaking nationally to Physiotherapists at the annual conference and specific presentations on rehabilitation of children post Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy.

Kathryn Smith

Physiotherapist

Kathryn trained in Physiotherapy at Manchester University and worked for a year at Ipswich Hospital before taking a year career break to support the Tsunami clear up in Thailand. Kathryn worked at 2 London Teaching Hospitals during which time she worked in Paediatrics & Neurology at the Evelina Childrens Hospital, Guys and St Thomas Hospital. Kathryn’s experience in brain injury is used with great effect at Kids Physio Works.
Andy Ringer

Andy Ringer

MSc PHYT
Physiotherapist

Andy completed his first degree in Sports Rehabilitation at the University of Hull in 2008. He then worked in the sports and fitness industry, coaching children in a variety of sports in the UK and also in the USA. Having realised he has a passion for physiotherapy he completed his physiotherapy masters degree at the University of Essex, which included a student placement with the Kids Physio Works team. Since graduating Andy has worked at Guys & St Thomas’ NHS trust, gaining experience in intensive care, amputee rehabilitation and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Andy is very excited to continue developing his paediatric physiotherapy knowledge, working alongside Kids Physio Works senior therapists and completing training in the latest treatment techniques.

Lauren Clark

BSc PHYT
Physiotherapist

Lauren graduated from the University of Essex in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. Since qualifying she spent time at a Suffolk Hospital doing junior rotations. Following this she worked within the Adults with Learning Disability services in North & Mid Essex; specialising in hydrotherapy and postural management.

Although she enjoyed working with adults, her passion has been always been in paediatrics and she is keen to develop her skills to be able to provide children and their families with personalised interventions. She is excited to work with and learn from the Kids Physio Works team.

Ewan Sears

BSc PHYT
Physiotherapist

Ewan completed his BSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire whilst working part-time at a local children’s play scheme charity whee he’d helped out for over a decade. This is where he gained his passion for working with children and he’s excited to keep this going at Kids Physio Works, to help children reach their goals. He also loves playing and watching sports in his spare time.

Kate Gibson

Physiotherist

Kate’s passion for pursuing a career in paediatrics began shortly after graduating from a BSc (Hons) Sports Science degree in 2012. She subsequently completed an MSc Physiotherapy degree in 2016 allowing her to undertake clinical rotations at Ipswich NHS Hospital. Whilst progressing through senior roles in the NHS, Kate developed a new hydrotherapy pathway for paediatric patients as well as playing a crucial role in Cystic Fibrosis clinics. Kate is proud to remain up to date with contemporary research and has consolidated her clinical skills with the foundation level APCP course.

Kate is hoping to bring her enthusiasm to the Kids Physio Works team and keen to continue her development. She strives to find unique ways of challenging children to reach their full potential and enjoys being part of their journey to exceed their goals. Kate enjoys horse riding, baking and taking her Dalmatian puppy, Pepper, for long country walks.

Emma Crudigngton

Emma Crudgington

Physiotherapy
Assistant

Emma works as a physiotherapy assistant at Kids Physio Works. She has experience with working with children after spending five years in various early years settings, and gaining her Health and Education Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma. Emma enjoyed working with all ages of children and watching the children learn and develop through play.

Shannon Chandler

Physiotherapy
Assistant

Shannon studied sports coaching at Cambridge Regional College and has had experience in working with children though various P.E. lessons and sports camps. She enjoys and is looking forward to working with children of all ages, watching them develop and grow, whilst helping them achieve their full potential.
